Patchouli was more than just the scent of the 1960s, beloved by hippies and happening folks of all ages. In fact, it has been used for hundreds, even thousands, of years. The name derives from “pacholi” which is Hindi meaning “to scent.” King Tut is rumored to have been buried with 10 gallons of patchouli essential oil inside his tomb! SallyeAnder Patchouli Soap is rich with Patchouli essential oil along with the bark and essential oil of the frankincense tree which was also prized for thousands of years for its potent scent – woodsy, earthy and spicy. Gary Austin was inspired to put these two ancient essential oils together in a classic olive oil blend Castile Soap and the rest is history. The potent combination is swirled throughout the soap making it both tempting and sensuous, shower after shower. Patchouli essential oil is known for its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic properties. It also has a reputation as an aphrodisiac! We can’t promise that but it is definitely great for grounding, balancing and harmonizing one’s mood.
