Slightly Alabama is a brand of leather goods founded in 2013 by Dana Glaeser. Operating as a small atelier, they produce limited quantity leather bags, wallets, belts, cases and accessories. Their products are designed and manufactured in their Ridgewood, NY studio where they focus on developing expertise in design through traditional techniques and processes.
The hallmark of their products is in the saddle stitch they use to assemble their pieces. Rather than using a sewing machine, they sew by hand. This technique involves a single thread with harness needles attached to either end, which are passed back and forth through holes they hand punch. The result is an elegant line of stitching and a product that is more durable than an item sewn with a machine.
